Tapani Hyvämäki

Sr. Embedded Software Design Engineer at Wirepas

Tapani Hyvämäki has extensive experience in embedded systems development and control engineering. Tapani started their career as a research assistant and diploma thesis worker at Helsinki University of Technology in 2007 and then worked as a trainee at Accenture. In 2006, they were a summer student at CERN. Tapani later pursued their doctoral studies in vibration control of electrical machines at Aalto University, where they also worked as a researcher and gained teaching experience in control engineering and stochastic systems. Tapani then joined Wärtsilä as a design engineer, developing embedded software for the control and monitoring of medium-speed internal combustion engines. At Vacon Plc, they worked as a development engineer in the motor control group, focusing on the development of embedded control software for electric drives. Tapani then joined Danfoss Drives, where they worked as a control engineer, specializing in embedded systems development, control algorithms, and simulation of electric drive systems. Currently, they are working at Wirepas as a senior embedded software design engineer, contributing to the development of ARM-based microcontrollers, device drivers, software architecture, unit testing, and Wirepas mesh stack development. Tapani is also involved in implementing the new DECT NR (5G) standard for IoT mesh technology.

Tapani Hyvämäki holds several degrees and certifications in different fields. Tapani obtained their D.Sc. in Automation and Systems Technology from Aalto University between 2009 and 2013. Additionally, they pursued studies in Mathematical Statistics and Probability at the University of Helsinki from 2009 to 2011. Furthermore, they completed their M.Sc. in Engineering Physics and Mathematics at Teknillinen korkeakoulu-Tekniska högskolan from 2002 to 2009. Additionally, Tapani Hyvämäki obtained a certification in Agile Software Development from LinkedIn in December 2022.
