Kyla Calvert Mason

Kyla Calvert Mason is an experienced media professional with a robust background in journalism and leadership roles. As the Interim News Director at Wisconsin Public Radio since February 2016, Kyla oversees a team of 23, establishing editorial priorities. Previously, as Assistant News Director, management responsibilities included overseeing 14 staff members and daily operations. Kyla has also worked with PBS NewsHour, where the education beat was originated, and KPBS, where significant investigative reporting was conducted. Additional journalistic experience includes roles at The Island Packet and Hearst, among others. Kyla holds a Master’s degree in New Media from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree in American Studies from Wesleyan University.
