Bill Kardas

Chief Meteorologist at WKTV NewsChannel 2

Bill Kardas started their work experience in 2004 as a Weather Producer at WTEN-TV. In 2006, they became the Chief Meteorologist at WKTV NewsChannel 2. In 2008, they joined Herkimer County Community College as an Associate Professor, teaching climatology and implementing various online learning platforms.

Bill Kardas completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology from the University at Albany, SUNY, between 2002 and 2006. Bill then pursued further education and obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences from Mississippi State University, graduating between 2010 and 2014.

In terms of additional certifications, Bill Kardas earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation from the American Meteorological Society in February 2020. Bill also holds the NWA Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association, although the specific dates of when they obtained this certification are not provided.
