Makarand Karanjkar

Makarand Karanjkar has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Makarand is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at Wohler Technologies, Inc. since April 2021.

Before their current role, Makarand worked at Amazon from 2018 to 2021, holding the position of Sr. Engineering Manager. Makarand contributed to the company's engineering team and played a key role in managing and overseeing engineering projects.

Prior to their time at Amazon, Makarand served as the Director of Engineering at Wohler Technologies, Inc. from 2016 to 2018. During this time, they demonstrated their expertise and leadership in engineering and technology.

Makarand also worked as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at PRIMA Cinema, Inc. from 2015 to 2016. Makarand led the development and deployment of highly secure Digital Cinema Theater-In-The-Home systems, utilizing technologies such as Docker, Ansible, JBOSS, and PostgreSQL.

From 2013 to 2015, Makarand held the position of IPTV Architect at MobiTV, where they focused on architectural contributions to streaming content delivery. Makarand also designed and scaled a secure Android-based HDMI dongle for streaming media content to TVs.

In 2009, Makarand founded Maxigems Technologies Pvt. Ltd, a company specializing in SAAS-based Business Applications. Makarand served as the Founder and successfully managed a team of software engineers, testers, and marketing engineers.

Prior to that, Makarand worked as the CTO at UFO Moviez India Limited from 2007 to 2009, where they built an engineering team and developed technology for secure digital cinema content delivery and playback.

Makarand'searlier experiences include working as a Senior Project Engineer at Dolby Laboratories from 2001 to 2007, where they focused on audio and video technologies, and as a Senior Software Engineer at Sun Microsystems in 2000.

Makarand Karanjkar began their career as a Firmware Engineer at Cirrus Logic from 1998 to 2000. Makarand worked on firmware for highly integrated Hard Disk Controllers and played a crucial role in the design and verification process.

Throughout their career, Makarand Karanjkar has demonstrated expertise in engineering, technology, and leadership, playing key roles in various companies across different sectors.

Makarand Karanjkar has a Master's degree in Computer Engineering from Santa Clara University. Prior to that, they studied Electronics Engineering at Pune University and earned a Bachelor's degree.
