Cortlandt Winters has worked in the technology field since 1994. Cortlandt began their career as an Educational Software Developer for the National Center on Literature Teaching and Learning, where they designed and implemented Windows software for teaching English as a second language to adults in C++, Prolog, and Toolbook. Cortlandt also designed software for teaching literature understanding to children and implemented a Windows paint program for children in C++.
In 2000, Winters joined General Dynamics Defense Systems as a Senior Software Design Engineer, where they led the development of a complex DHTML test application for K-12 math, science, and literature content. Cortlandt also created a DTD and XSLT publishing tool to read and validate data, execute tests, and talk to Java Servlets. Additionally, they designed and developed interactive components in Flash4 for embedding in the DHTML engine.
Winters then worked as an Independent Contractor from 2002-2006, performing contract work for Macromedia, Laszlo Systems, and other companies utilizing Flash, Laszlo, Macromedia Communication Server, and Macromedia Central. Cortlandt wrote an internal prototype that combined video capture in a browser with blogging and instant messaging, and they developed components and worked on sample applications for Macromedia Central.
From 2006-2013, Winters worked as a Senior Client Side Architect for Troy Web Consulting. Cortlandt translated legacy applications from Flex to HTML5 with Backbone, JQuery, JavaScript, and Raphael, and re-architected .Net Web forms applications for better performance and usability using C#, JQuery, JavaScript, and CSS.
Winters then worked as an Independent Contractor from 2012-2017, designing mobile interfaces and web-based games using Knockoutjs and HTML5, and programming a mobile application for iOS and Android devices using the Flex mobile framework and Actionscript 3.
Most recently, Winters has been a Senior Engineer at Wolfjaw Studios since 2019. Cortlandt translated the client side of an internal content management application using Java and Spring Boot from Vue1 to Vue2, and created another internal dashboard with Vue2. Cortlandt also evaluated options for migrating content from legacy content management systems into modern options.
Cortlandt Winters received a Bachelor of Arts in Film/Dramatic Literature from Vassar College in 1989. Cortlandt then went on to earn a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University at Albany, SUNY in 1994.
