Kate Black-Regan

Crisis Intervention Counselor at Women Against Abuse, Inc

Kate Black-Regan is an experienced mental health and arts professional with a diverse background in psychiatric rehabilitation, project coordination, crisis intervention, and performance art. Since December 2017, Kate has served as a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Worker at The Wedge Recovery Center. Concurrently, as Project Coordinator for The Cultural Bridge Project since June 2014, Kate has contributed to community engagement initiatives. Kate has been a Crisis Intervention Counselor with Women Against Abuse, Inc. since April 2011, providing essential support through the Domestic Violence hotline of Philadelphia. With a commitment to the arts, Kate has been a Resident Performer at Transmissions Theatre since July 2009, creating impactful one-woman shows that address themes of abuse and healing. Educationally, Kate holds certifications in various therapeutic art forms and earned a degree in Psychology and English from Rutgers University.

Women Against Abuse is the leading and largest provider of services to victims of domestic violence in both the City of Philadelphia and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Our mission is to provide is quality, compassionate and nonjudgmental services in a manner that fosters self-respect and independence in persons experiencing intimate partner violence and to lead the struggle to end domestic violence through advocacy and community education. With over 100 staff, WAA serves more than 15,000 individuals each year through emergency housing (2- 100 bed shelter), transitional housing (15 apartments and support to various scattered housing sites), legal services, hotline counseling, education/prevention and advocacy.
