Susan Spina serves as the Grants Manager at Women Against Abuse, Inc., managing funding initiatives to support services for individuals experiencing intimate partner violence. Additionally, Susan has contributed as a Senior Research Assistant for The BlackQuaker Project since April 2018. Previous roles include Development Coordinator at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where responsibilities encompassed donor relations and budget tracking, and Assistant Director at Kennett Flash, where program development and marketing strategies were implemented. Earlier experiences include managing venue logistics at Burlap and Bean Coffee and coordinating performances at Franklin & Marshall College. Susan holds a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies with a minor in Music Performance from Franklin & Marshall College and has furthered studies at the University of Edinburgh Business School.

Women Against Abuse is the leading and largest provider of services to victims of domestic violence in both the City of Philadelphia and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Our mission is to provide is quality, compassionate and nonjudgmental services in a manner that fosters self-respect and independence in persons experiencing intimate partner violence and to lead the struggle to end domestic violence through advocacy and community education. With over 100 staff, WAA serves more than 15,000 individuals each year through emergency housing (2- 100 bed shelter), transitional housing (15 apartments and support to various scattered housing sites), legal services, hotline counseling, education/prevention and advocacy.
