Richard Hansell

Richard Hansell has extensive work experience in various roles related to data engineering, software development, and SQL database management. Richard is currently working as a Principal Data Engineer at Wood Mackenzie since 2022. Prior to this, they served as a Technical Lead - Big Data at Virgin Money from 2021 to 2022.

Before joining Virgin Money, Richard worked as a Software Engineer at People's Energy from 2021 to 2021, where they designed and implemented a complex PostgreSQL database and developed Python scripts for testing.

From 2014 to 2020, Richard worked as an SQL Developer at Spark Energy, where they were involved in the design, development, and management of a system for smart meter installation and processing.

Prior to this, they worked as a C#.NET/SQL Developer at Valpak Limited from 2011 to 2014, where they designed and implemented a SQL Server database for packaging data and worked on SSRS reporting.

Richard's experience also includes working as an SQL Server Consultant at the Department for International Development (DFID) from 1996 to 2010. Richard also worked as a Business Intelligence Consultant at BI-Inform Limited from 1998 to 2001, and as a Developer/Technical Consultant at CODA Financials from 1993 to 1998.

Richard'searliest work experience was as an Information Officer at the NATIONAL CURRICULUM COUNCIL from 1992 to 1993.

Richard Hansell obtained a BSc (Hons) degree in Computer Science (MAIN) and Mathematics (SUBSID) from the University of York, where they attended from 1986 to 1989. Before that, they completed their 'A' Levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, and Physics at the Royal Grammar School Newcastle from 1980 to 1986. Additionally, they have acquired certifications in Customer Experience Leadership from LinkedIn and Azure Data Fundamentals as well as Azure Fundamentals from Microsoft.
