Sumanta Datta

Sumanta Datta has a strong background in compliance and legal roles. Sumanta is currently the Vice President and Global Head of Compliance at Wood Mackenzie since 2023. Prior to that, they worked as the Lead Counsel at Weatherford from 2022 to 2023.

Before joining Weatherford, Sumanta held multiple roles at Assurant from 2018 to 2022, including Regional Compliance Officer and International Compliance Manager. Sumanta also gained experience as an International Compliance Manager and Senior Risk Analyst at Wood Mackenzie from 2016 to 2018.

Sumanta started their career as an Internal Audit Assistant at Inkwest Management Consultants Pvt. Ltd., India from 2001 to 2004. Sumanta then transitioned into finance and accounting roles at Schlumberger, where they served as a Trade Compliance & Control Champion, Supply Chain Contracts Analyst, Client Contracts Analyst, and Accountant from 2006 to 2015.

Sumanta Datta obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce with a focus on Accountancy from the University of Calcutta in 2004. Following that, they pursued a Master's Degree in International Business and Finance from Robert Gordon University between 2004 and 2006. Later on, they completed a Master of Laws (LLM) in Oil & Gas Law at Robert Gordon University from 2015 to 2016.
