Iona Richards

Iona Richards is a highly experienced geotechnical engineer currently serving as Lead Geotechnical Engineer and Team Lead at Wood Thilsted since February 2020, with prior roles as Senior and Geotechnical Engineer at the same organization. Iona completed a PhD at the University of Oxford, focusing on monopile foundations under complex cyclic lateral loading, which included a three-month placement at the Centre for Offshore Foundation Systems in Australia. In addition to doctoral studies, Iona served as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant and Tutor in geotechnical and civil engineering during this period. Earlier experience includes a summer internship in the Tunnelling Division at Mott MacDonald and another summer internship at EGNISCO. Iona holds an Engineer’s Degree in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford.
