Erica Hong has a diverse work experience spanning over a 19-year period. Erica began their career as a Computer Lab Assistant at DePaul University in 1998, where they worked for a year. Erica then completed two summer internships at Stepan Company in 2002 and 2003. In 2004, Erica worked as a Contract Computer Consultant at Stepan Company for seven months. Following this, they joined Woodland Foods in 2005 where they held various roles. Erica started as a Software Developer and worked in this position until 2013 when they became a Business Systems Analyst and Database Manager. Currently, Erica holds the position of Senior Database Analyst/Business Systems Analyst at Woodland Foods, which they have been in since 2017.

Erica Hong completed their education at Indiana University Bloomington. Erica earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Computer Science and French from 1999 to 2002. Later, they pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Computational Linguistics, which is a combination of Computer Science and Linguistics, from 2002 to 2004. In February 2021, Erica obtained the certification of a FileMaker 18 Certified Developer from FileMaker Inc., an Apple subsidiary.
