Richard Tan has a diverse work experience spanning several companies in the defense industry. Richard started their career as an Engineering Technician at BAE Systems in 1998, where they completed an apprenticeship in electronics and gained exposure to various engineering roles. Richard specialized as an electronics technician in the digital engineering function.
Tan then advanced within BAE Systems, taking on roles such as Electronic Engineer, Project Officer, and Project Manager. Richard worked on projects from 2004 to 2013, managing consolidation projects and serving as a project manager.
In 2013, Tan joined Raytheon UK as a Bid Manager and subsequently became a Programme Manager. Richard managed bids and programs from 2018 to 2023.
Most recently, Tan joined Woods Air Movement in 2023 as the Defence & MoG business lead.
Overall, Tan has demonstrated a strong background in engineering and project management, with an emphasis on the defense sector.
Richard Tan has a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng Hons) degree in Electronics & Communication from Anglia Ruskin University, which they received from 2002 to 2006. Richard also holds a diploma in Electronics & Communication (ONC, HNC & HND) from the same university, which they obtained from 1998 to 2002. Richard further completed their secondary education at Hockerill Anglo-European School, where they achieved GCSEs from 1991 to 1996. In the field of Project Management, Richard obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree from UEL in 2012, and also attained the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification from UEL in 2012. Additionally, they completed a Project Management course (APMP) from the Association for Project Managers from 2009 to 2010.
