Emily L. serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Director of Development at Woods Humane Society since August 2017. In these roles, Emily L. manages a donor stewardship plan to enhance donor retention and cultivates relationships with potential and existing donors while identifying funding opportunities from private foundations and corporations. Responsibilities include creating a fundraising calendar, engaging the Board of Directors and staff, and developing partnerships that align organizational goals with donor interests. Prior to this, Emily L. was the Donor Engagement Officer and Owner at Memory Lane Studio / Michael L'Heureux Photography from 2007 to 2013.

Woods Humane Society is a private, nonprofit organization that has been serving San Luis Obsipo County since 1955. Woods runs an adoption program for dogs and cats that places over 2,200 animals per year in loving homes through adoption centers in San Luis Obispo and Atascadero. Woods also performs thousands of spay/neuter surgeries per year, offers a broad spectrum of humane education programs, and provides dog training classes for the public with an emphasis on positive-reinforcement. Woods relies on generosity of the community to fund all programs and is proud to have a 4-Star rating on Charity Navigator.
