Jess Prather is a seasoned geologist with extensive experience in exploration and appraisal within the energy sector. Currently serving as a Portfolio Advisor - Exploration at Woodside Energy since June 2022, Jess previously held various roles at BHP from January 2014 to June 2022, including Appraisal Geologist and Exploration Geologist, primarily focused on Trinidad and Tobago. Earlier career experience includes positions as a Graduate Geologist and Graduate Exploration Geologist also at BHP, as well as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Bureau of Economic Geology, where significant contributions were made to understanding deposition in the McMurray Formation. Jess's background includes internships at ExxonMobil, where critical optimization and research on geoscience workflows were undertaken, and work as a Geologist with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, involving water rights assessments. Educated at The University of Texas at Austin with a Master's Degree in Geological Sciences and a Bachelor's Degree from Washington and Lee University in Commerce, specializing in Geology and Business Administration.
