Professor Smita Shah OAM is a distinguished leader in health promotion and chronic disease management with extensive experience since 1995 as the Director of the Prevention Education and Research Unit (PERU) at the Western Sydney Local Health District. Under Professor Shah's direction, PERU has developed and implemented innovative health promotion programs aimed at empowering young people and communities. In addition to this role, Professor Shah serves as a Clinical Professor at the University of Sydney and holds associate positions at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research and the Centre for Managing Chronic Disease at the University of Michigan. Academic credentials include a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Glasgow and both a Master of Community Health and a Graduate Diploma of Community Health from the University of Sydney.
