Keely Tan

Medical Writer | Australia at Word Monster

After reading through what felt like an endless amount of journal articles during my PhD, the ones that really stood out to me were well-curated with visually appealing figures (and scientifically sound data of course). This developed my love for scientific storytelling, from interpretation of complex data to finding engaging and effective ways to communicate this information.

Immediately after completing my PhD in breast cancer, I continued to work as a postdoctoral researcher in the field of oncology. Whilst I enjoyed being on the cuttng-edge of oncology research, I couldn’t see myself doing it long-term, so I decided to shift away from academia and have stumbled my way into the world of MedComms. Since starting at Word Monster, I’ve been lucky enough to work on some exciting projects with the help of a supportive team. I am excited that I can use my research and written skills in a space that allows for more creativity, whilst also giving me the opportunity to learn about a broad range of therapy areas.

The life-first culture that is the heart of Word Monster has allowed me to do more of what I love, which includes painting/drawing, going out to enjoy a delicious meal, and trying new activities.
