Years before the gig economy became of age, Kim Houlne turned the idea of an on-demand workforce into an industry. As Working Solutions founder, she pioneered virtual contact center services across the USA, later expanding operations into Canada. Her company launched its home-based business model in 1996, using a network of independent contractors.
For the fifth year in a row, FlexJobs, an expert in remote work, named Working Solutions among its Top 100 Companies with Remote Jobs—placing it #5 in 2019. In recent years, industry analyst Ovum affirmed the company’s position as a top-tier leader in on-demand contract center outsourcing.
Kim accrued significant marketing and management experience before starting Working Solutions. She held senior management positions in consulting—and in financial and insurance industries at Mercer, Travelex, Mutual of Omaha and Blue Cross of Washington and Alaska.
In 2017, the Dallas Business Journal recognized Kim for her leadership, along with other prominent North Texas businesswomen. Women for Hire magazine has honored Kim for being one of the “Top 25 Women to Watch.” A graduate of the University of Georgia, she holds a Bachelor of Arts, with an emphasis in communications and humanities. In 2016, she delivered an alumni keynote address at the Communication Studies graduation.
