Brilynn Rakes has a varied work experience, beginning in 2017 as a Communications Fellow at RESPECTABILITY. In this role, they wrote and presented a 10-minute talk to a live audience of 50 celebrity contacts and political officials, which was broadcast on CSPAN. Brilynn also wrote for the organization's blog via Wordpress, researched and built a database of potential-donor contact information and conducted fundraising outreach via phone and email. In 2018, they began working at Madewell as a Sales Associate and Assistant Manager. As a Sales Associate, they focused on providing excellent customer service and increasing sales. As an Assistant Manager, they managed the sales floor by supervising and delegating operational tasks, and managed the hourly-sales-statistics database. In 2019, Brilynn began working as a Financial and Managerial Accounting Tutor at the Community College of Rhode Island, where they taught study strategies and assisted students in understanding difficult concepts. In 2020, they worked as a College Success Program Marketing Intern at Learning Ally, where they were responsible for drafting content for the organization's social media pages, editing and drafting promotional marketing materials and collaborating with the CSP program management team. Additionally, they worked as a Communications Intern at the Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, where they worked with the development team to market and plan the organization's first virtual fundraising event, and worked with the director of community relations to revamp the organization's outreach plan. In 2022, Brilynn began working at WorkRamp as a Sales Development Representative, Inbound. Brilynn focuses on creating a culture of learning and growth, and works with market-leading organizations to provide enablement and training.

Brilynn Rakes has a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Media Studies from Fordham University (2013-2017), a Certificate in Business Administration from Foothill College (2019-2020), a Certificate in Business Administration from Community College of Rhode Island (2018-2019), and a Bachelor's degree in Dance from The Ailey School (2013-2017). Additionally, Brilynn has obtained a certification in Strategies for Your First 90 Days in a New Job from LinkedIn in March 2022.
