Arunima Sarkar

Thematic Lead- Quantum Technologies at World Economic Forum

Arunima Sarkar has an extensive work experience spanning over two decades. Arunima began their career in 1999 as a Manager at Frost & Sullivan. Arunima then worked as an Analyst at Gartner from 2001 to 2004. Following that, they joined Netscribes as a Senior Manager for a brief period from 2004 to 2005. Arunima then joined Accenture in 2006 as the Global Applied Intelligence Research Lead, where they played a key role in shaping the growth and strategy initiatives through analytics and artificial intelligence research until 2019.

In 2019, Arunima joined the World Economic Forum as the Lead Artificial Intelligence, India in the Centre for Fourth Industrial Revolution, where they co-designed and piloted innovative approaches to policy and governance in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Arunima also led several initiatives, including developing India's Responsible AI strategy with NITI Aayog and co-designing the first global governance guidelines on quantum computing. Arunima later became the Lead Artificial Intelligence, Global Assignments, where they continued to drive responsible AI initiatives until 2023. Currently, they hold the position of Thematic Lead- Quantum Technologies at the World Economic Forum.

In 2022, Arunima also took on an additional role as an Expert in the Working Group on Responsible AI at GPAI. Throughout their career, Arunima has demonstrated expertise in driving research and thought leadership in the fields of analytics, artificial intelligence, and technology.

Arunima Sarkar completed their high school education at Loreto Convent, where they achieved an ICSE certification in X Standard in 1992. Arunima then attended DAV, where they completed their CBSE education and obtained a XII Standard certificate in 1994. Arunima Sarkar pursued their undergraduate studies at Lady Shri Ram College For Women from 1994 to 1997, majoring in Economics and graduating with Honours. Following their bachelor's degree, they enrolled at the University of Mumbai from 1997 to 1999 to pursue an MBA in Marketing, specifically concentrating on the field of Marketing.
