Oliver Tsai

Partner Lead, Materials And Infrastructure at World Economic Forum

Oliver Tsai has extensive work experience in the engineering and construction industry. From 2004 to 2015, they worked as a Senior Project Manager at Hazen and Sawyer, where they gained expertise in capital planning, design, and construction management for water sector infrastructure projects in New York City and neighboring communities. From 2015 to 2017, Oliver was a Consultant at MWH, now part of Stantec, where they provided strategic advisory services to public utilities and municipal clients. During their time at MWH, they also collaborated with an international project team on the design-build delivery of an industrial manufacturing facility for a Fortune 100 tech company. In 2017, Oliver joined Stantec as a Water Services Consultant, focusing on water services consulting until 2019. At the World Economic Forum, Oliver assumed several roles, including Platform Curator, Energy, Materials, and Infrastructure from July 2019 to June 2021, Project Lead, Net Zero Carbon Cities from July 2021 to November 2022, and currently serves as the Engineering and Construction Industry Manager starting from December 2022.

Oliver Tsai has a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree with a focus on Advanced Management and Finance / Environmental Policy and Sustainability Management from Columbia | SIPA. Oliver also has a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering (MSE) and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University. Prior to their university education, Oliver attended Wando High School. In addition to their degrees, Oliver has obtained several professional certifications, including ENV SP (Envision Sustainability Professional) from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure, and the Professional Engineer designation from the State of Maryland, the District of Columbia, and the State of New York.
