Sonia Romão

Sonia Romão is a seasoned Programme and Policy Officer with extensive experience in urban systems and vulnerability assessments at the World Food Programme since November 2021. Previously, Sonia served as a Social Policy Expert and Senior Consultant, providing expert guidance in development strategy and implementation from March 2013 to November 2019. Sonia's earlier roles include Partnerships and Technical Support Regional Officer at UNAIDS, Child Protection Specialist at UNICEF, Project Manager at Fundação para o Desenvolvimento da Comunidade, Project Coordinator at Save the Children US, and Technical Officer at the Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Action. Sonia holds a Master of Science in Social Policy and Planning from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), earned between 2005 and 2006.
