Valerie Guarnieri

Assistant Executive Director, Programme Operations at World Food Programme

Valerie Guarnieri is an accomplished professional with over two decades of experience in humanitarian assistance and international development. Currently serving as the Assistant Executive Director for Programme & Policy Development at the World Food Programme since August 2000, Valerie has provided operational oversight for complex operations across East Africa, managing significant assets and a large staff. Previous roles include Director of Programme Design & Support Division, Country Director in the Philippines, and Deputy Country Director in Zimbabwe, where Valerie led various programs aimed at humanitarian relief and food security. Earlier experience includes serving as the Director of Humanitarian Affairs at the National Security Council during President Clinton's administration and as a Senior Program Adviser at USAID, focusing on East Africa. Valerie Guarnieri holds a Master of Arts in International Relations and Affairs from the American University School of International Service.
