Paul Bass

Global Head, IT at World Gold Council

Paul Bass is the Global Head of IT at the World Gold Council. Prior to this, they were the Technical Delivery Manager at Doherty Associates from April 2010 to November 2011. There, they were responsible for managing the IT Support Team consisting of engineers with varied skills around the wintel environment, as well as the company's customer base of approximately 160 SME clients with varying network environments. Paul was also responsible for developing and implementing new policies and procedures across the business, recruitment, and ownership and improvement of the end-to-end support service.

Some of their key achievements at Doherty Associates include effectively and efficiently identifying areas of deficiency within the day-to-day operations of the IT Department and Systems, assisting in dividing the IT Department into ‘Projects’ and ‘Support’ so Engineers were able to have clearly defined responsibilities and targets, restructuring the Support Department into customer focused teams, creating Team Leader roles who were responsible for the day-to-day management of cases for their teams, introducing a six monthly performance management system to ensure Engineers were developing and meeting their own career goals, and assisting with the migration of extended hours support in the UK to a 24/7 support offering in the Kuala Lumpur branch office.
