Maja Carrieri

Maja Carrieri is an experienced professional in language and conference services with a career spanning over three decades. Currently serving as Director of Governance Services and previously as Director of the Language, Conferences and Publishing Department at the World Meteorological Organization since December 2002, Maja manages a diverse team of over 50 staff members responsible for translation, editing, interpreting, and conference services in multiple languages. Prior to this role, Maja held the position of Chief of the Conference and Language Services Section at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia from August 1994 to November 2002, where Maja was instrumental in building a language department of 160 staff. Maja's educational background includes a DESS in Conference Interpreting from ESIT and an M.A. in French and Spanish language and literature from the University of Zagreb, complemented by various professional qualifications in finance and organizational development.
