Janaina Borges has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries and roles. Janaina began their career in 1993 as a Graphic Designer at Paper Express, where they worked on packaging localization, art publications, and financial reports. In 1998, they joined Bloomberg as a Reporter/Producer and covered financial crises in Latin America, major privatization processes in Brazil, and the aftermath of the September 11th attacks. Janaina then joined the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2005, initially as an Audio-visual Information Officer and later as the Head of Audio-visual and Social Media. At the WTO, they were responsible for condensing technical trade information into engaging video materials and providing support to journalists. In 2012, Janaina volunteered as the Vice-President for Promotion at the One Percent for Development Fund, where they used their skills as a communications specialist, writer, and social media focal point.

Janaina Borges has a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Political Science from USP - Universidade de São Paulo, which they obtained from 1994 to 1998. In 2002 to 2003, they attended New York University/SCSP to study International Affairs. Janaina also participated in the Bucerius Summer School in 2010, where they focused on Global Governance. Prior to their university education, from 1990 to 1993, Janaina earned a Professional Certification in Graphic Arts from Senai Theobaldo de Nigris.
