Shannon W. has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Shannon began their career at YMCA Canada as a Programme Manager from September 2000 to June 2003. Shannon then worked at Queen's University as a Student Life Coordinator in the International Programs Office and Chemical Engineering department from September 2004 to January 2008. Next, they joined IFRC (International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies) as a Senior Programme Coordinator for HIV, Malaria & TB Global Programmes from January 2008 to September 2011. Shannon then transitioned to ISO (International Organization for Standardization) as a Technical Programme Manager for Energy, Health, Data Applications, Services & Management from September 2011 to July 2014. Shannon later joined the European Broadcasting Union, where they held multiple roles. Shannon worked as a Technical Editions Manager in the Technology & Innovation division from July 2014 to October 2016, and then became a Market Analyst & Communications Manager at Eurovision Services S.A. from October 2016 to August 2019. Currently, Shannon is the Chief of Graphic & Event Design, Print & Distribution at the World Trade Organization, a position they have held since August 2019.

Shannon W. obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Rochester - Simon Business School, with a focus on International Finance, Economics & Corporate Strategy, from 2015 to 2016. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from Queen's University from 2003 to 2007, specializing in History of Art & Political Science, along with an International Studies Certificate. Shannon also participated in an exchange program at the University of Warwick in 2005-2006, studying History of Art & Political Science. In addition, Shannon completed a Venice Summer School program focused on Art & Architecture in Venice at Queen's University in 2004, and participated in the BISC First-Year Program, "Thinking Locally – Acting Globally," at Bader College in 2003-2004.

Shannon W. has also obtained several certifications throughout their career. These include certifications in Emerging Leaders from Wharton Executive Education in July 2020, Leading Cross-functional Teams from Europe Consultancy in November 2018, Digital Business Agility and Workforce Transformation from IMD Business School in May 2016, Decision-making and Negotiating from Harvard University in February 2014, XSL Transformations from Transmedia in June 2013, Project Management from CRPM in April 2013, International Mobilization for Action from the American Red Cross in December 2012, International Computer Driver's License from ECDL / ICDL Certification in November 2011, eXtyles Developer Training Certificate from Inera, Inc. in November 2011, and Typefi Designer Training from Typefi Systems in October 2011. Lastly, they obtained certifications in Increasing Effectiveness of Humanitarian Action for Women, Men, Girls and Boys from the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) in August 2011 and Monitoring & Evaluation of National AIDS Programs from the World Health Organization in June 2009.
