Heike Zidowitz

Senior Programme Officer Marine Species Conservation at WWF Germany

Heike Zidowitz is a highly experienced marine conservation professional with a focus on marine species. Currently serving as a Senior Programme Officer for Marine Species Conservation at WWF Germany since January 2019, Heike previously held a trainee position at GIS-Akademie and worked as a Research Scientist at the University of Hamburg, where research centered on the threats and conservation of sharks, skates, and rays in German waters from 2013 to 2016. An independent consultant for Squalus Conservation & Science from 2006 to 2013, Heike coordinated campaigns for prominent organizations such as Pew Charitable Trusts and the Wildlife Conservation Society. Early career experience includes research associate roles at the Alfred Wegener Institute and Senckenberg. Heike holds a Diplom-Biologie degree from the University of Hamburg and completed a diploma thesis on Seamount Ecology at the Alfred Wegener Institute.
