William T. Lake

WILLIAM T. LAKE is Consulting Counsel with the law firm of Wiley Rein LLP. From 2009 to 2017 he was the chief of the media bureau at the Federal Communications Commission. Before joining the Commission he was a partner in the law firm of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, where he led the firm’s communications and electronic commerce practice. He has previously served as principal deputy legal adviser to the U.S. Department of State, counsel to the Council on Environmental Quality, counselor to the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, law clerk to Supreme Court Justice John M. Harlan, and law clerk to Judge Henry J. Friendly of the U.S. Court of Appeals in New York. Lake attended Yale University and Stanford Law School.
