Alvin Zhang began their work experience as a Summer Intern at Revolutionary Cooling Systems in 2010. Alvin then worked as a Computer Center Operator at the Jeanette and Louis Brook Computer Center at The Cooper Union from July 2011 to May 2012. Alvin interned as a SULI Intern at Argonne National Laboratory in June-August 2012. From June 2015 to August 2019, they worked as a Scientific Software Developer at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC). In August 2013, Alvin also started working as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where they worked until December 2019. In December 2019, they joined ERDC again, this time as a Computational Modeling Postdoctoral Researcher, a position they held until December 2020. In May 2021, Alvin began working as a Software Engineer at CARMERA, and currently, they are a Software Engineer at Woven Planet Holdings, starting from May 2021.
Alvin Zhang holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Prior to their PhD, they completed a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Mechanical at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. Alvin obtained their high school diploma from Brooklyn Technical High School, where they focused on the field of Biochemistry. In addition to their formal education, Alvin has obtained several certifications, including Probability Theory, Statistics and Exploratory Data Analysis from Coursera in July 2020, Deep Learning Specialization from Coursera in March 2020, and Machine Learning from Coursera in November 2019.
