We are currently hiring for the key role of Area Service Manager based in our Redmond, OR location.

Job Description

SUMMARY

The Area Service Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient daily operations within an assigned service area. Provides leadership and direction to operations personnel, coordinates with clients and vendors to ensure cost effective operations in branch offices while maximizing customer service.  Provides reporting to senior management and ensures all corporate policies and procedures are followed throughout the assigned area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Resolves operational issues in their assigned area. Assists with the resolution of operational issues in other operational areas. Coordinates with WPX leadership as needed to effectively manage challenges and opportunities in a timely manner

  • Recruits, trains, motivates, coaches, and encourages continual development of employees in assigned area

  • Recruits and monitors local delivery service providers, ensures compliance with company requirements and client service standards.

  • Develops, monitors and ensures the daily execution of operations game plans in assigned areas

  • Manage route structures and make changes based on new business, lost business, or service requirement changes.  Ensure the most cost effective routing is continually in place

  • Monitors and updates operations systems to ensure revenue and costs are accurately captured

  • Ensure stops are added/deleted as needed and that stops for each route in the system match what is actually being performed on all routes in assigned area.

  • Monitors proper customer service, quality, safety and security programs in the assigned area

  • Performs route audits, freight audits and service audits to ensure client service standards are met

  • Understands and ensures compliance with governmental regulations (TSA, OSHA, DOT, IATA, HazMat handling etc).

  • Sources other vendors as appropriate and monitors performance as needed

  • Reviews ongoing performance of branch and identification of needs. Develops and implements approved action plans.

  • Prepares and/or reviews client and management reports. Meets or exceeds all applicable KPI’s

  • Approves and monitors vendor invoices for payment, approves employee payroll, and ensures accuracy on branch profit & loss statements

  • Supports warehouse functional operations as necessary

  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in logistics, business, management or related field or equivalent experience
  • At least two (2) years of progressive operations experience in logistics, courier transportation management, or supply chain services
  • Prior experience with supply chain services, 3PL and 4PL services, and carrier knowledge preferred
  • Must maintain a high degree of personal and professional integrity and honesty
  • Able to think critically, analyze, define issues, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, develop plans & processes and execute them effectively in both a proactive and reactive manner
  • Able to perceive issues, propose and communicate options or changes before a problem develops
  • Able to operate cargo vans, medium duty box trucks and forklifts
  • Able to lift up to 70 lbs
  • Able to respond to complex inquiries from internal and external customers
  • Able to prioritize multiple simultaneous demands and work well under pressure
  • Able to effectively engage, interface and communicate with all staff, service providers, management, & clients in a clear and professional manner
  • Able to work independently and as a team member
  • Able to organize, analyze, assemble and prepare documents or reports containing data from several sources
  • Willing and able to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Able to read, write and speak English clearly and professionally
  • Must be able to pass a TSA Security Threat Assessment
  • Must be a US citizen or Legal Permanent Resident with authorization to work in the United States
