Colin Tschida

Colin Tschida has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Colin is currently serving as the Head of Powertrain at Wright Electric, a position they started in June 2022. Prior to this, Colin worked as the Director of Motor Development at Wright Electric from July 2020 to August 2022. Before joining Wright Electric, they worked as a consultant from April 2020 to August 2022.

Colin has also held positions at ABB, where they worked as a Senior Scientist from May 2017 to March 2020, and as a Research Scientist from May 2014 to May 2017. In these roles, they were involved in the development of novel motor and generator technologies and provided support for power-electronic packaging projects.

In addition, Colin has experience in the academic field, working as a Lecturer at NCSU from August 2013 to May 2014, and as a Teaching Assistant from August 2007 to May 2013. During their doctoral work, Colin developed a heuristic method for topological design of truss structures and conducted simulations of electro-statically driven granular systems.

Prior to their academic pursuits, Colin worked as a research intern at Lord Corporation from May 2009 to August 2009, and as a research technician at NC Solar Center from February 2007 to October 2007. Colin also worked as a metal worker at Vega Metals from January 2006 to February 2007, where they contributed to the development of a small batch aluminum foundry and performed finishing work.

Colin's earliest work experience was as a self-employed carpenter from June 2003 to October 2005, where they gained practical skills in various carpentry tasks, including framing, finishing work, and cabinetry.

Colin Tschida began their educational journey in 2001 when they attended Grinnell College. From 2001 to 2005, they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Physics. Following their undergraduate studies, Colin attended North Carolina State University from 2007 to 2010. During this period, they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering. Continuing their academic pursuits, Colin remained at North Carolina State University from 2010 to 2013, completing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Concentration in Mathematics.
