Writers Guild of America is a labor union that represents professional writers in film, television, radio, and digital media. Writers attached to the union focus on big budget movies, independent films, late night comedy, variety shows, daytime serials, broadcast and radio news, web series, documentaries, and animation. On joining the guild, allwriters unite to promote, protect, and maintain important artistic and professional principles. Each member operates under the one person, one vote system that has been a core operating tenet of the guild since its formation.Writers Guild of America East was founded in 1954 and is based in New York, United States.
