CEO at WSENSE

Chiara Petrioli serves as an EIC board member at the European Commission since January 2024 and as a Top Innovator at UpLink - World Economic Forum since January 2023. As the CEO and Founder & CTO of WSENSE since 2017, Chiara leads a team of R&D Engineers in developing the Internet of Underwater Things and has coordinated projects such as EASME ArcheoSub and EASME SeaStar. Chiara's academic career spans over two decades at Sapienza Università di Roma, where positions include Full Professor and Prorettrice. Chiara has directed several labs, including the Sensor Networks and Embedded Systems Laboratory. Chiara's early career includes roles as Associate Professor at Sapienza, Assistant Professor, and postdoctoral experience, culminating in a Fulbright Scholarship at Boston University. Educational credentials consist of a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering and a Laurea in Computer Science, both from Sapienza Università di Roma. Recognized as one of the top women in technology by Inspiring Fifty and as a 2019 N2women Star in Computer Networking and Communications, Chiara continues to make significant contributions to technology and education.
