Joseph Itaya has a diverse work experience, with roles ranging from program director and associate professor to founder in various companies. Joseph is currently serving as the program director and associate professor for the Master of Science in Digital Media Management Program at the University of Southern California, starting in August 2022. In 2007, they founded Legacy Films, which produces cinematic memoirs and has a charitable arm that has raised millions of dollars for organizations. In 2000, they founded Muse Academy, where they trained young professionals in music, media production, and business/entrepreneurship. Joseph also founded EVRLAND in 2017, which utilizes virtual reality technology to transport individuals with limited mobility to extraordinary places. Additional positions include founder of Aspire Institute in 2016, founder of Epicenter VR in 2015, and co-founder of Wurrly in 2014.
Joseph Itaya received their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Music Theory and Composition from the University of Washington, where they studied from 1996 to 1999. Joseph then went on to pursue a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) degree in Cinematography and Film/Video Production at the University of Southern California from 2003 to 2006.
