Kathleen Gallagher

Kathleen Gallagher serves as the Executive Director of the 5 Lakes Institute since January 2017 and is a columnist for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, a position held since September 2020. Additionally, Gallagher hosts the Midwest Moxie show on WUWM 89.7 FM - Milwaukee Public Radio since March 2022 and previously hosted "How Did You Do That?" from November 2017 to August 2021. Gallagher is also a board member at the Midwest Research University Network and STARTINGBLOCK MADISON, Inc., both since March 2018 and March 2020, respectively. From January 2017 to January 2023, Gallagher served as Executive in Residence at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the Investment Certificate Management Program at the Lubar School of Business. With a background in journalism, Gallagher worked as a business reporter for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel from 1993 to 2017 and was a communications coordinator at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago from 1990 to 1993. Gallagher holds an MA in English from the University of Illinois Chicago and a BA in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
