Bruce Falconer

Bruce Falconer is an accomplished Executive Editor at The American Scholar, overseeing content for both the magazine and its website since July 2009. In addition to this role, Bruce has been authoring a literary biography of Sherwood Anderson for W. W. Norton & Company since April 2021 and freelancing for numerous national publications, including The New York Times Magazine and National Geographic, since 2004. As a member of the Advisory Board for the Cuban American Youth Orchestra since 2016, Bruce provides strategic advice on cultural initiatives. Previous experience includes reporting at Mother Jones, focusing on military affairs, and serving as a staff editor at The Atlantic Monthly, where logistical support and editorial direction were key responsibilities. Bruce holds a B.A. in History and Political Science from Northwestern University and has studied at the University of Regensburg.
