Sheilah Kast is an accomplished journalist and media host with extensive experience spanning several decades. Currently serving as the host of "Maryland Morning" at WYPR.org since January 2006, Kast's daily interview show explores politics, policy, history, arts, and science in Maryland. As an author, Kast wrote "How Romanians Survived Communism, Ended It, and Emerged since 1989 as the New Italy" and has been a member of the Journalism and Women Symposium since September 1995. Previous roles include hosting "Inside E Street" for AARP from January 2007 to October 2010 and anchoring NewsBrief segments for NPR from 2004 to 2005. Kast's early career includes serving as a correspondent for ABC News, covering significant political events, and working as a reporter for the Washington Star. Additionally, Kast held a leadership position as a board member for the Greater Southeast Healthcare System, chairing the board of its nursing home subsidiary. Kast holds a BA in French from The Catholic University of America and was educated at St. Agnes Academy in Indianapolis, Indiana.
