Ananta Ghimire

Research Scientist, Lead Discovery at X-Chem

Ananta Ghimire has a diverse range of work experience. Ananta is currently working as a Research Scientist in Lead Discovery at X-Chem, Inc. since September 2021. Prior to this, they worked at the University of Massachusetts Medical School as a Senior Scientist and Manager in Drug Discovery at the Small Molecule Screening Facility from March 2018 to September 2021. Ananta also served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the same institution from May 2018 to March 2021, where they focused on designing oligonucleotide linkers for polymer-drug conjugates, developing smart biomaterials for bacterial triggered release of antibiotics, and creating self-defensive orthopedic implants against bacterial infection.

Before joining the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Ananta Ghimire worked at the University of Connecticut. There, they held two roles: Graduate Research Assistant from August 2012 to May 2018 and Graduate Teaching Assistant from August 2012 to May 2018. As a Graduate Research Assistant, they developed novel protein-based sponges, improved enzyme stability, and created enzyme-hydrogel modified bioelectrodes. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, they supervised undergraduate students, conducted laboratory experiments, provided tutoring, and offered assistance with coursework.

Ananta Ghimire started their professional career as a lecturer at Himalayan Whitehouse International College from an unknown start date to July 2012.

Ananta Ghimire obtained a Master's degree in Physical Chemistry from Tribhuvan University between 2005 and 2007. Following this, from 2012 to 2018, Ananta pursued further education at the University of Connecticut, where they attained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemistry.
