Omar Negrete

Omar Negrete has a diverse range of work experience spanning over two decades. Omar is currently working at X, the moonshot factory as a Manufacturing Engineer for Project Taara, where they focus on the production of Free Space Optical Communication hardware and works on quality assurance, process improvements, and cost reduction.

Prior to their current role, Omar worked at Google in various positions. As a Staff Hardware Engineer, they managed a team of engineers and oversaw the optical systems for Google Daydream. Omar also worked as a Senior Hardware Engineer, conducting research, benchmark testing, and scaling lab operations for Augmented Reality displays. Additionally, they served as a Hardware Engineer in the Manufacturing team for Google Glass, leading process development, solving production issues, and implementing test procedures.

Before their time at Google, Omar was a Co-Organizer at Bio+Tech, where they were involved in organizing events and activities related to biotechnology. Omar also worked as a Senior Process Engineer at Integrated Plasmonics Corporation, contributing to the development of biosensor products and focusing on prototype production and hardware testing.
