Matt Walker is senior vice president, head of industrial operations for GSK Vaccines, the global leader in vaccines with over $7B in annual sales. In this role, he leads more than 10,000 colleagues responsible for product supply of 40 commercial vaccines to over 60 countries and 40% of the world’s children. Adept at strategic planning and implementation, Mr. Walker is a member of the Vaccines Executive Team and leads engineering, manufacturing, supply, and environmental health and safety across the Vaccines business.
Previously, Mr. Walker was executive vice president, head of technical operations for Shire Pharmaceuticals, the global specialty biopharmaceutical leader focused on rare disease with more than $15B in annual sales. In this role, he led more than 15,000 colleagues responsible for all aspects of product supply, product development, and IT and was a member of the Shire Executive Team. Prior to Shire, Mr. Walker served in several diverse leadership roles with Pfizer. As senior director of engineering, Mr. Walker served as project director for a $450M Greenfield Site in Singapore. He moved back into operations as vice president, operations for the Biologics and Vaccines Operating Unit with the acquisition of Wyeth. His tenure with Pfizer culminated in the role of vice president, sterile injectables operations, where he led the integration of the Hospira Injectable Business into Pfizer to create the world’s largest sterile injectable manufacturing network.
Mr. Walker has a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Tufts University.
