Kara Schatz is currently serving as an Online Instructor at iD Tech Camps since May 2023, focusing on teaching online private lessons and virtual tech camps. Since August 2021, Kara has also been a STEPS Research Assistant at North Carolina State University, contributing to the Convergence Informatics initiative. Previously, from June to August 2021, Kara worked as a Teacher Team Lead at The Engineering Place at NCSU, leading a summer camp on Python programming for high school students. Educationally, Kara holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from Xavier University and has completed a Master of Science and is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science at North Carolina State University. Research experience includes roles as an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of Central Florida in computer vision and at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in mathematical biology, as well as experience as an SI Leader, Grader, and Mathematics Tutor at Xavier University. In 2017, Kara developed and taught a STEM camp focused on Mars Exploration for elementary and middle schoolers as a STEM Camp Counselor in the Xavier University Noyce Program.
