Bingwen Liu has extensive experience in scientific research and development. Bingwen started their career in 2000 as a Lab engineer/Instructor at Tianjin University, where they focused on process development and quality improvement. From 2004 to 2006, they worked as a Research Assistant at Washington State University, specializing in electrochemical and biosensors as well as micro/nano-sensor fabrication. Bingwen continued their research at Washington State University from 2007 to 2012 as a Research Assistant, focusing on microfabrication and polymerization techniques.
In 2013, Liu joined the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory as a Postdoc Research Associate. During this time, they developed the System for Analysis at the Liquid Vacuum Interface (SALVI), which earned him the prestigious R&D 100 Award. Bingwen'swork involved in-situ analysis of liquids, electrode reactions, cells, and ionic solutions.
After their time at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Liu joined the University of Arizona in 2016 as an Assistant Research Scientist. Here, they worked on sensor development, analytical microfluidics design, and automation for analytical chemistry. Bingwen also instrumentalized laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) detection, significantly improving the detection limit for capillary electrophoresis.
Most recently, in 2019, Liu joined XBiotech USA, Inc. as a Scientist, where they continue their work in the field of scientific research.
Bingwen Liu has a diverse education history in the field of Chemical Engineering. Bingwen obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from Nanjing Tech University in 1997. Afterwards, they pursued their Master of Science (MS) degree at Tianjin University, completing it in 2000. Liu continued their education at Washington State University, where they obtained a second Master of Science (MS) degree in Chemical Engineering in 2006. Finally, they completed their academic journey at Washington State University, earning a PhD in Chemical Engineering in 2012.
