Niklas Finnberg, PhD

Niklas Finnberg, PhD, has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of biomedical research and drug development. Niklas currently serves as the Head of Non-Clinical at Xbrane Biopharma AB, a biopharmaceutical company. Prior to this, they worked as a Consultant Drug Development at ProPharma Group, where they provided regulatory expertise and compiled development plans for drug projects. Niklas also conducted GAP-analysis of dossier documents based on nonclinical and clinical guidelines.

Before joining ProPharma Group, Niklas worked as a Principal Scientist in In vivo Pharmacology at Medivir AB, where they contributed to cancer drug discovery and development. Niklas actively participated in cross-functional teams and presented both externally and internally.

At Fox Chase Cancer Center, as a Research Assistant Professor, Niklas independently conceived and drove translational research projects in oncology. Niklas focused on projects related to medicinal chemistry and apoptosis restoration in anaplastic thyroid cancers.

In their role as an Assistant Research Professor at Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, Niklas led a collaborative research project involving scientists, veterinary, and clinical faculty members. The project aimed to address the translational potential of repositioning anti-proteozan mepacrine for the treatment of anaplastic thyroid cancer, with a focus on identifying the anti-apoptotic protein Mcl-1 as a molecular target.

Niklas also served as a Senior Research Investigator at the Division of Hematology and Oncology, Penn Medicine. During this time, they conducted research on the global stress response in mice following conventional radiotherapy and proton radiation.

Niklas started their career as a Post Doctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, where they focused on research in the Division of Hematology & Oncology. Prior to this, they worked as a Scientist/Carcinogen Risk Assessor at EPA Sweden and Institute of Environmental Medicine.

Niklas holds a PhD from Karolinska Institutet, where they conducted research as a PhD student. Niklas also worked as a Scientist/Chemical Risk Assessor at the National Institute for Working Life (NIWL) during this time period.

Niklas Finnberg, PhD, has an extensive education history. Niklas started their academic journey in 1993 at Stockholm University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (B Sci) degree in Biology and Chemistry. This program lasted for five years, ending in 1998.

During the same period, from 1993 to 1998, Finnberg also attended The Stockholm Institute of Education, also affiliated with Stockholm University. Here, they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Secondary Education and Teaching, acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge to work as an educator in the field.

In 1998, Finnberg continued their studies at Karolinska Institutet, where they embarked on a rigorous Ph.D. program. Niklas focused their research on the field of Toxicology and successfully completed their doctoral degree in 2003.
