John Bono has over 18 years of work experience, beginning with a role as an Analyst at Mission Essential in 2009. In 2003, they joined the US Navy as an Intelligence Analyst, managing teams of signals analysts in tactical and strategic intelligence collection, analysis, and dissemination. In 2017, they began working for R3PI as a Software Engineer, innovating to engineer mobile solutions for tomorrow's problems today. That same year, they also began working for Up Beet Kitchen, Inc. as an Android Engineer, building an intuitive mobile client to specifications using Material Design principles and creating a trivia quiz game featuring embedded video conferencing via the Zoom API. In 2014, they began working for Renaissance Adventures, LLC as an Android Engineer and Narrative Designer, developing a personnel tracker featuring geofencing, alarms, and push notifications and designing rich and varied worlds steeped in lore, fraught with danger, and rife with adventure. In 2019, they started working for DoorDash as a Software Engineer. In 2020, they joined Affirm as an Architect - Mobile Localization and Sr. Software Engineer. Most recently, in 2022, they began working for Xeal as a Sr. Software Engineer.

John Bono has a diverse educational background. In 2003, they studied Computer Software Engineering at the University of Florida. John then attended the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in 2005, where they studied Iranian/Persian Language, Literature, and Linguistics. From 2011 to 2013, they studied Neurochemistry and Psychobiology at San Francisco State University. John later attended the University of Colorado Boulder from 2014 to 2015, where they studied Creative Writing. Most recently, in 2017, they completed an Android Developer Nanodegree from Udacity.
