Jim Harrison has extensive work experience in the field of medical device research and development. Jim is currently serving as the VP of R&D at Xeltis since June 2023. Prior to this, they worked as the President of WJH Engineering Consultants, LLC starting from June 2004.
Jim also held the position of VP of R&D at Euphrates Vascular from December 2021 to April 2023. From August 2013 to June 2021, they worked as the Director of Implant R&D at Intact Vascular, where they designed and developed three implants for the repair of tissue dissections in balloon angioplasty.
Jim also worked as the Director of R&D at Philips / Intact Vascular from August 2013 to June 2021. In addition, Jim served as the Director of R&D (Consultant) at Vesper Medical, Inc. from October 2016 to September 2020, where they designed and tested venous stents. Vesper was later acquired by Philips in January 2022.
Earlier in their career, Jim held the position of Manager of R&D at Abbott Vascular Devices from January 2002 to June 2004. Prior to that, they worked at Guidant from December 1997 to June 2004, where they managed multiple engineering teams and played a key role in the development and launch of the first FDA-approved carotid stent in the US.
Jim started their career as a Senior R&D Engineer at Smith & Nephew Orthopaedics from March 1993 to December 1997, and prior to that, they worked as a Research Engineer at United Technologies Research Center from May 1992 to March 1993.
Jim Harrison completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute from 1987 to 1991. Jim then pursued higher education and obtained a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from 1991 to 1992.
