Norman Barlow

Vice President, Nonclinical & Bioanalytical Development at Xencor

Norman Barlow has a significant amount of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Norman has worked in various roles and companies throughout their career.

Norman started their career at The Chemical Industry Institute of Toxicology as a Veterinary Pathologist from July 1998 to January 2003.

Norman then joined Aventis as a Senior Principal Scientist - Pathology from January 2003 to June 2004, and later as a Lead Research Investigator - Expatriate from June 2004 to May 2006.

Norman then moved to Sanofi, where they held multiple roles, including Lead Research Investigator - Pathology and Toxicology from May 2006 to December 2008, Associate Director and Acting Head of Pathology from December 2008 to February 2010, Head, Preclinical Safety from February 2010 to December 2011, and finally as Head of Boston Drug Disposition, Preclinical Safety, and Animal Research and Welfare from December 2011 to March 2014.

After their time at Sanofi, Norman joined Janssen, Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson and Johnson, as the Global Head of Toxicology/Pathology/Lab Animal Medicine from April 2014 to February 2018.

Norman then moved to Seattle Genetics, where they served as the Head of Non-Clinical Sciences from April 2018 to April 2020.

Currently, Norman is working at Xencor as the Vice President of Nonclinical & Bioanalytical Development, starting from April 2020.

Norman Barlow holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Comparative Biomedical Sciences, which they obtained from North Carolina State University in 2003. Norman also completed a Residency in Anatomic Pathology at North Carolina State University from 1996 to 1998. Prior to that, they earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Michigan State University in 1996 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Kalamazoo College in 1992.

Norman Barlow pursued further education at Penn State Great Valley, where they earned a Master of Business Administration degree from 2006 to 2009. Norman also obtained a Master of Leadership Development degree from the same institution from 2008 to 2009.

In terms of certifications, Norman Barlow holds a Veterinarian License, which they obtained from the State of Michigan Board of Veterinary Medicine in January 2013. In addition, they hold the Diplomate title from the American Board of Toxicology, obtained in November 2007, and from the American College of Veterinary Pathology, obtained in September 1999.
