Chong Chen

Chong Chen is an accomplished engineer specializing in graphite materials with extensive experience in the nuclear and energy storage sectors. Currently serving as Engineer VI at X-energy since October 2023, Chong focuses on qualifying nuclear graphite per ASME code for the Xe-100 reactor project. Prior to this role, Chong was a Senior Engineer at Kairos Power, working on nuclear grade graphite qualification. At SGL Carbon, Chong held dual roles as Sr. Technology Manager and Sr. Manager of Technical Marketing, advancing strategic partnerships within the North American market. Earlier career experiences include various positions at GrafTech International, extensive research at West Virginia University, and teaching at China University of Mining and Technology. Chong earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and Technology from East China University of Science and Technology.
