David Bannister

Chief Nuclear Officer at XENERGY

As Vice President Quality at X-energy, Dave Bannister directs the implementation and execution of the company’s independent oversight and Quality Assurance program as well as the Safety, Health and Environmental programs. He has more than 38 years of technical, executive management, and nuclear power industry experience, both in the Middle East and the United States.

Prior to joining X-energy, Dave worked at the Emirates Nuclear Energy Company’s four-unit Barakah Nuclear Project during the Licensing, Construction, Start-up and Operational phases. At ENEC Dave was the Director of Quality and established the operational Quality Assurance Program for the four units and led the Quality team during the final phases of Unit 1 construction. He then transitioned into the plant as the Unit 1 & 2 Site Vice President for the commissioning of Unit 1, then Plant Manager for the Start-up and Power Ascension testing of Unit 1.

Prior to ENEC, Dave worked at Omaha Public Power District’s Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station. His previous positions at OPPD included shift technical advisor, reactor engineer, manager of quality, shift manager and manager of operations. He also served as plant manager/division manager of Nuclear Operations during all the major component replacements that were part of Fort Calhoun Station’s integrated life extension projects. He has served as division manager of Quality and Performance Improvement, Site Vice President and Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer.

Dave held a senior reactor operators license from 1990 to 2002 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Nebraska Wesleyan University. He has completed managerial training programs accredited by the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations.

Mr. Bannister has been actively involved in industry groups including the Utilities Services Alliance, the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations and was the executive sponsor for the FCS Chapter of the North American Young People in Nuclear.
