Barry Bloom

President and Chief Operating Officer at Xenia Hotels & Resorts

Barry Bloom is the current President and Chief Operating Officer at Xenia Hotels & Resorts. Bloom has over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Barry started their career as a Senior Financial Analyst at VMS Realty Partners before becoming a Consultant at PKF Consulting. In 1990, they became the Development Manager at Rockresorts and then the First Vice President at Tishman Hotel Corporation in 2000. Three years later, they became the Vice President of Investment Management at Hyatt Hotels Corporation. In 2003, they left Hyatt to become the Executive Vice President of Portfolio Management & Administration at CNL Hotels & Resorts. In 2007, Bloom left CNL to become a Founding Principal at Abacus Lodging Investors LLC. Barry held this position until 2011 when they became an Associate Professor of the Practice at Boston University. Bloom has been with Xenia Hotels & Resorts since 2013 and is currently the President and Chief Operating Officer.

Barry Bloom received their Ph.D. in Hospitality Management from Iowa State University. Barry also completed Ph.D. studies in Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida. In addition, they hold an MBA from Cornell University and a BS in Hotel, Motel, and Restaurant Management from Cornell University. Barry is also certified by the AHLEI as a Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) and by the Orlando Economic Partnership as a Political Leadership Institute Fellow. Furthermore, they hold real estate broker licenses in both Massachusetts and New York.

They are on a team with Joseph Johnson - Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer, Atish Shah - Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Their manager is Marcel Verbaas, Chairman & CEO.
