Alberto Calzada, PhD

Alberto Calzada, PhD has a strong background in data science and machine learning. Alberto is currently the Head of Data Science and Machine Learning at XIATECH, a position they have held since December 2021. Prior to this role, they worked as a Data Science Engineering Consultant at XIATECH from March 2021 to December 2021.

Before joining XIATECH, Alberto was the Director of Calzadata, a role they held from July 2016 onwards. Alberto also worked as a Lecturer and Coordinator of the MSc in Artificial Intelligence at European University Cyprus from July 2020 to February 2022.

Alberto has extensive experience in the field of data science, having previously served as the Head of Data Science and CTO at Tranquil City from December 2019 to July 2020. Alberto also worked as a Data Scientist at Tranquil City from May 2016 to December 2019.

Additionally, Alberto has worked in various contract roles at the Department for International Trade (DIT) as a Data Science Lead and Data Science Engineer from September 2016 to January 2020. Alberto was also a Senior Data Science Engineer at Virtual Clarity from December 2015 to September 2016.

Earlier in their career, Alberto gained research experience as a Research Associate and Data Scientist at Ulster University from December 2013 to December 2014. Alberto also worked as a PhD Researcher at Ulster University from February 2011 to February 2014.

Alberto's career also includes roles as a Researcher and leading developer at UNIVERSIDAD DE JAÉN in 2009, and as a Computer Science Teacher at Universidad de Jaén/Junta de Andalucia in 2008.

Alberto Calzada, PhD, obtained their Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Master of Science (MSc) degrees in Computer Software Engineering from the Universidad de Jaén. Alberto completed their undergraduate studies from 2005 to 2009.

Later, Alberto pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree at Ulster University, specializing in GIS, Machine Learning, Decision Support Systems, and Expert Systems. Their doctoral studies took place from 2011 to 2014.
